Time to get into SHAPE

Leadership Memo 2022-8

Happy August! Can you believe we are in the second half of 2022 already?! How time flies!

Last time, I told you that I was cooking something new. Since it’s something new, I’m also in the process of learning! So, the cooking is taking a bit longer. Some of you have already gotten a little sneak peek, and I definitely will be ready to share it with all of you next month! So, stay tuned!

In the meantime, I’m excited to let you know that I’ve been invited to give a keynote presentation at the upcoming Agile Tour Vilnius in October! It is a hybrid event (one day in person, one day virtual). They have a fabulous panel of speakers, so you may want to go check it out! You may not want to travel to the Baltics, but you can still attend remotely.

Also, in June’s Leadership Memo, I talked about why we need to know our purpose. While there are many ways to figure out our WHY, I’d like us to follow our “SHAPE”: S – Strength, H – Heart, A – Abilities, P – Personality, E – Experience. You can read more in the follow-up article that I wrote.

Lastly, I’d like to let you know the latest happenings, including something called “SF BABAM Battle Royale” coming up in 3 days’ time! So, read on and I hope to see you all there!

Latest happenings:

It’s party time! SFBABAM (San Francisco Bay Area Business Agility Meetup) is turning 1 year old! To celebrate our 1st birthday, we are bringing our past speakers back to what we’re calling, “SFBABAM Battle Royale”. Our speakers will be sparring on various questions and topics on business agility that our members have submitted. Come join us. You don’t want to miss it! RSVP here.

When: August 3rd at 11:30am Pacific, 2:30pm Eastern, 19.30 BST, 20:30 CEST.

Our Agile Tales launched another new episode in our current podcast series called “Beyond Budgeting”.

“Business agility is about finding the constraints in the system” – Evan Leybourn, Business Agility Institute founder.

In this podcast series, we explore with Bjarte Bogsnes how going beyond the budgeting constraints helps an organization achieve business agility. Though this journey isn’t for the faint of heart, companies like Tesla and Equinor (formerly StatOil) are doing this today – and are being very successful at it.

You can listen to the podcast on Spotify, Apple, Amazon, Google, Stitcher or you can click here.
